SPECIAL SHOWS FOR STAR TREK
Pilot episode "The Cage" was re-edited and became part of "The Menagerie" Parts I & II (episodes 016-1 and 016-2). "The Cage" was aired for the first time in its entirety and in full color in 1988 as part of The Star Trek Saga: From One Generation to the Next, a 2-hour retrospective special hosted by Patrick Stewart which contained interviews with Gene Roddenberry, Maurice Hurley, Rick Berman, Mel Harris and cast members from the old and new series, clips from both series and features I through IV. The Star Trek Saga is not included in the Star Trek package.
"The Cage" is available in most, but not all, complete Star Trek deals as episode number 080. If "The Cage" is part of a station's contract, the one hour syndicated version may be shipped. It is also listed in some inventory systems as episode "0000". It is not listed as episode #001.
Episode #30, "Catspaw," is appropriate for Halloween although it is not specifically a Halloween show. Similarly, episode #32, "Friday's Child," is appropriate for Christmas. Episode #8, "Charlie X," mentions Thanksgiving (though this reference may be cut out of the syndicated version.) Episode #54, "The Omega Glory", is appropriate for Memorial Day or Independence Day.
